WESTWOOD/DOBSON TOURNAMENT

Mountain View went 7-0 to win the Westwood Dobson Tournament with the team beating Williams Field 8-7 in the championship on Saturday.

Mountain View beat Dobson 9-0 and Sahuaro 24-0 on Thursday before beating Seton Catholic 9-2 and Show Low 15-4 on Friday, The Mountain Lions beat Show Low 15-4 Saturday morning and Valley Christian 16-0 to set up the championship game with Williams Field.

Williams Field led 5-0 entering the bottom of the fourth but the Lions plated four in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead down to 5-1. Arianna Figueroa doubled in Aaliyah Pereda, Adelina Noriega brought in Giselle Valdez to make it 5-2, Juliana Molina scored Mia Quinonez to make it 5-3 and then Ashley Gospodarek hit a sac fly to score Danika Stoddard.

Mountain View took the lead for good in the fifth with Figueroa doubling in Perdea again to tie the game 5-5, Stoddard scored Valdez for the 6-5 lead and Molina doubled to score Quinonez and Stoddard with two outs to give the Lions an 8-5 lead.

Williams Field scored two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead down to 8-7 with no outs. A walk with one out put two runner on but Figueroa induced a ground ball for the second out but the play put the tying run at third with two outs. Figuero picked up her eighth strikeout for the win. Figueroa went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI to go along with the win from the circle to lead the Lions.

Mountain View plays at Pueblo (2-3) on Wednesday. Sahuaro went 2-3 and the Cougars will play at Ironwood Ridge (2-2) on Tuesday.
