The NHSCA High School Nationals, featuring some of the best high school wrestlers in the nation, took place at Virginia Beach, Va., this weekend and Sunnyside junior Sergio Vega and Morenci senior John Provencio emerged as champions.
Vega capped a 4-0 run with a major-decision 10-1 victory over Jayce Paridon of Orlando, Fla., in the 138-pound junior finals.
Provencio’s 3-1 decision over Daniel Aranda of Orlando, Fla., ended his 5-0 run through the senior 132-pound competition.
