Down 6-1 after the first inning to Continental Ranch, the 9-11 All-Stars from Thornydale chipped away at that lead to ultimately win the second round playoff game 8-7 in seven innings. Held at the Arthur Pack Complex, Thornydale advances to play Marana on Wednesday and Continental Ranch will face Flowing Wells in an elimination game later that night.
Camden Stalter knocked in Ryder Smith to put Thornydale up 1-0 but Ethan Alexander started things off for Continental Ranch in the bottom half of the first with a bunt single and then Isaac Pate followed with an infield hit. Colt Medlin walked to load the bases with no outs and then Owen Robinson singled with two outs to make it 1-1. Daniel Willis doubled in two more runs and Cameron Hall reached on a hit-by-pitch two put two on. Dominic Hernandez singled and a run came in on an error on the play to make it 4-1. Owen Brisley made it 6-1 on a two-run double to end the scoring.
Thornydale scored three runs in the top of the third to cut the lead down to 6-4 on four straight walks and an RBI from Adam Romero. Romero took the ball from Javier Davila in the bottom of the third and he gave up an unearned run to put Continental Ranch up 7-4 but he shut down the next nine batters he faced to keep Thornydale within reach.
Wilbur Brandstaetter singled and Micah Meinke doubled him in to cut the lead down to 7-5 in the fourth and Romero brought in Alex Figueroa in the fifth to make it 7-6. Stalter reached in the top of the sixth to start the inning but Thornydale was down to one out when Teagan Yauch reached on an error to give the team some hope. Stalter scored on the error to tie the game up and then three straight walks and a wild pitch scored Yauch to put Thornydale up 8-7.
Continental Ranch needed a run to keep the game going and Cade Johnson started off with an infield hit to put a runner on where Willis tripled him in one out later to tie the game 7-7. Romero got out of the jam with two more strikeouts.
Smith reached on an error to start the seventh and Chase Dew knocked him in the make it 8-7 Thornydale. Romero put down the side in the bottom half of the inning for the win.

Romero had nine strikeouts while giving up one earned run. Davila added two more strikeouts. Dew went 2-3 with 2 RBI; Stalter went 2-4 with an RBI; Meinke had an RBI double and Romero had 2 RBI.
For Continental Ranch, Brisley, Robinson, Alexander, Pate and Parker Emery saw pitching action. Robinson had four strikeouts. Willis went 2-3 with a double, triple and 3 RBI; Robinson had an RBI and Brisley had 2 RBI.
