Down one game after losing to Thornydale 9-5 on Monday, Flowing Wells brought out the bats on Thursday to beat Thornydale 25-8 to even the series, and then again late Thursday night 23-14 to win the best-of-three series to determine the District 5 Junior Baseball champion.
The Junior Baseball State Tournament is scheduled for Goodyear starting July 8. The District 12 Junior Tournament starts Saturday night at Manzanita between Sunnyside and San Xavier and Douglas and Nogales will battle it out starting Saturday morning in Douglas in District 8 action.
The Flowing Wells comeback was highlighted by a grand slam from Matty Trujillo that was estimated at around 330 feet. Dante Tover added an inside-the-park three-run homer.
