Devin Geordon Price, a state-champion swimmer at Palo Verde High School who went on to become an All-Big 12 second-team competitor in the 100 freestyle at TCU as a senior in 2013 has passed away at age 32.
Price died Sunday unexpectedly, according to social media posts from family.
A GoFundMe account has been created to help his wife Ashley and their two children:
Price, who won the 100 freestyle state championship at Palo Verde in 2008-09, has worked as a swim instructor at Catalina Terrace, where his dad Devin Sr. has coached for almost 20 years.
As a senior at TCU, Price competed in these events in the Big 12 championships — 200 medley relay (third, 1:29.03), 200 free relay (third, 1:21.71), 400 free relay (third, 3:01.84), 100 free (sixth, 44.38), 50 free (ninth, 20.59) and 100 back (ninth, 50.58).
He was named TCU’s star performer as a senior on the relays, anchoring come-from-behind wins in the 200 free relay at West Virginia and 400 free relay at the UIW Invite. He earned 13 event wins on the season.
A celebration of life for Price is planned Aug. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Catalina Terrace (2440 E. Hedrick Drive). The family is asking those who attend wear Arizona, TCU or blue clothing to the event.
