Corey Williams’ Tucson Summer Pro League for Kids — in its 21st year of operation, 12th year with youth divisions involved — will hold a 3-point shooting contest and championship games Sunday at the Gregory School.
Under Williams’ direction, the TSPL started in 2004 as a summer league primarily for college-age players to hone their skills for their careers. Seeing the need to help develop young players from Tucson, from various financial backgrounds, Williams created a kids division in 2013 with one important provision: No AAU or club teams were allowed.

The premise of the league is to provide youths the ability to play basketball in the summer if their parents are unable to pay the fees of travel ball.
The 3-point shooting contest Sunday starts at 11 a.m.
The Boys 10-11 championship between Window Depot and Crest Insurance is at noon, followed by the Girls 10-13 championship between Moore Law and Picture Rocks at 1 p.m. and the Boys 12-13 title game between Revolve and Casino del Sol at 2.
Members of the Arizona men’s and women’s basketball teams attended the games on Saturday at the Gregory School. They included Caleb Love and KJ Lewis of the men’s team and Katarina Kneževic, Lauryn Swann, Skylar Jones, Sahnya Jah and Paulina Paris.
Williams is a former Arizona standout from 1993-96 who is now a television college basketball analyst.
Kelvin Eafon, another substantial Wildcat alumni, is one of the coaches of the TSPL.
