American Legion: State Quarterfinal Round tonight

Nikolai Nuñez warms up for the Cactus Cats. The Desert View team beat the OV Nighthawks 13-9 to advance to the winner’s bracket quarterfinal round. Cristobal Lorta went 3-3 with a double and an RBI, Orlando Pinedo went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Oscar Quijada had a double and 2 RBI and Joshua Valenzuela went 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Nuñez collected 5 strikeouts. Armando Gutierrez, Jorge Acuña and Carlos Urias also saw pitching action. Nicholas Wilson went 2-4 for the Hawks with a double and 2 RBI and Aiden Lajeunesse went 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI. Wilson also had 5 strikeouts on the mound. (Stephanie van Latum/AllSportsTucson)
