Tracking former Southern Arizona & Arizona Wildcats baseball players in pros (8/4)

NOTE: This is a compilation of stats involving players from Southern Arizona and the Arizona Wildcats’ program in MLB-sanctioned leagues (MLB and minor leagues). The list does not include players in foreign leagues or independent leagues in the U.S.

Rob Refsnyder, the 2012 College World Series MVP at Arizona

Boston Red Sox veteran outfielder Rob Refsnyder, 33, achieved his first multi-home run game in his nine-year major-league career with two solo shots in Saturday’s 7-4 loss at the Texas Rangers. The former Arizona standout went 4 for 4, adding a double and a walk. He had three RBIs. That also marked the first time Refsnyder reached base five times in an MLB game. “Outstanding. He’s been great for us,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “The quality of the at-bats. I know a lot of people only see him as a platoon guy, right? One that faces lefties. We have the confidence that he’s a guy that when (opponents) bring a righty, there’s some good matchups too. Two good swings early on, the double, the last at-bat just grinding. It was a great night for him.” Refsnyder now has produced career-high numbers this season in hits (61), doubles (15), home runs (seven after his previous high of six achieved last season) and RBIs (29 after recording 28 last season).
