Two starters on Arizona’s rotation — left-hander Jackson Kent and right-hander Clark Candiotti — and a former Wildcat who played at Pima Community College — right-hander Aiden May — were assigned to their respective rookie-league teams Monday. Kent will start his pro career at the Washington Nationals’ Florida Complex League (FCL) team while Candiotti will begin at the San Diego Padres’ Arizona Complex League (ACL) team. May will begin at the Miami Marlins’ FCL team. Another rookie with local ties — former Salpointe Catholic infielder Cade McGee — started his pro career last week with the St. Louis Cardinals’ Single-A team at Palm Beach (Fla.). McGee, a standout from Texas Tech, is batting .077 (1 for 13) through his first four games. Rookies yet to be assigned with local ties — former Arizona right-handers Cam Walty (Cleveland Guardians), Anthony “Tonko” Susac (Texas Rangers) and Trevor Long (Seattle Mariners). About a month remains in the minor-league seasons.
