Chris Barraza, a former Sahuarita and Arizona right-hander, is looking for another opportunity after the Los Angeles Angels released him Wednesday (Arizona Athletics photo)

No explanations given by the Los Angeles Angels for releasing former Sahuarita and Arizona right-handed reliever Chris Barraza on Wednesday. Barraza had decent numbers — 2-2 with a 3.32 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 28 walks in 40 2/3 innings at Single-A Inland Empire (Calif.). The move coincided with the Angels assigning former Central Florida pitcher Najer Victor, a 14th-round pick last month in the MLB Draft, to Inland Empire. Barraza was drafted in the 10th round of the 2023 MLB Draft. In his two years at Inland Empire, Barraza was 2-3 with a 3.96 ERA with 54 strikeouts and 34 walks in 50 innings (38 appearances).
