Baja Arizona Notes: Roman Bravo-Young joins Cowboy RTC; Will Parker named Colgate team captain; Zaylie Calderon named UTEP Director of Softball Operations; Pima Women earn No. 7 academic ranking

Former Sunnyside and Penn State standout Roman Bravo-Young announced his connection to the Cowboy Regional Training Center (RTC) located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The 4-time state champion and 2-time NCAA champion represented Mexico at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Former Catalina Foothills standout Will Parker was named a captain of Colgate. According to a release, the fifth-year tight end earned his captaincy on the heels of a career-high year in 2024. The then-senior started in all 11 contests and tied his personal-best with four receptions, also hauling in his first touchdown as a Raider with an eight-yard grab in a win against Cornell.

Former Mountain View and UTEP pitcher Zaylie Calderon was named Director of Softball Operations for the Miners.

Pima earned an Academic No. 7 ranking for two-year colleges by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) with a team GPA of 3.478. The Aztecs had nine total student-athletes on the NJCAA All-Academic individual teams; six were listed on the First Team with a 4.0 GPA.
