A LOOK BACK — NO. 2 DAVID ADAMS
With it being the 2nd day until kickoff between the Lobos and Wildcats, the best player for Arizona to wear No. 2 was running back David Adams, the Sunnyside graduate who evolved into an All-Pac-10 running back. In 1986, he was the first back in Arizona history to lead the Pac-10 in rushing (1,224 yards) and was first team All-Pac-10 and honorable mention All-American. Very strong and shifty at 5-foot-6 and 175 pounds, he was dafted in the 12th round in 1987 by the Indianapolis Colts. Adams eventually played for the Dallas Cowboys before playing two seasons in the CFL for Hamilton in 1989 and 1990. He is now a businessman residing in Tucson.

THEY SAID IT
“You got to be prepared for his legs. They can do read options and he can pull if we give him a read to pull (the football). … You got to keep your eyes on them and you got to keep your pass rush lanes so that you’re not giving big gaps for him to break through and scramble.” — Stukes
