Catalina Foothills standout Finn Meister and his partner Owen Bolles of Chandler took the second qualifying spot for the USGA 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship on Monday at the Wigwam Gold Course in Litchfield Park.

The USGA 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be held at Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey from May 17-22, 2025.

According to the USGA, qualifying will take place at 53 sites across the United States between August 14 – December 31, 2024 and the Arizona qualifier took place on Monday. The USGA inaugurated the tournament in 2015 as a successor to the U.S. Amateur Public Links, an individual competition held from 1922 to 2014.

In this tournament, teams, or “sides,” consist of two golfers, each boasting a handicap index of 5.4 or less. A total of 128 sides partake in a 36-hole stroke play qualifier, determining the top 32 sides for match play. The competition adopts a four-ball format, where the side’s score on each hole is determined by the lower score between the two players.

The qualifier at the Wigwam had two qualifier spots and two alternate spots available. Austin Fisher of Scottsdale and Nate Jetter of Phoenix took the top qualifier with a 10-under 62 while Meister and Bolles came in with a 9-under 63.

Former Salpointe and Arizona standout Brian Prouty and former Sabino standout Jonathan Beaty took one of the two alternate spots with a 5-under 67.

Meister committed to Ole Miss.
