Pima women earn 11th double-digit win season in last 14 years

The Pima Community College women’s soccer team secured its 11th double-digit win season in the last 14 years on Saturday after beating GateWay 5-0 at the West Campus Aztec Field.

The No. 9 ranked Aztecs (10-2) dominated and secured their fourth straight shutout victory (eighth overall) in the win over the Geckos (0-11).

The Aztecs produced five different goal scorers as sophomore Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge) put Pima on the scoreboard in the 13th minute with her goal that was assisted by fellow sophomore Neveah Covarrubias (Pueblo).

Sophomore Camila Razcon (Marana) finished the match with two assists. She set up sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro) for her goal in the 21st minute to make it 2-0. Then she found sophomore Kassandra Vasquez for her goal in the 37th minute to put the score at 4-0.

Sophomore Jessica Alvarez (Tucson) netted Pima’s third goal in the 26th minute while sophomore Uriah Burrell (Catalina Foothills) cashed in on her goal in the 67th.

The Aztecs finished with 15 shots on goal and held the Geckos to none for the game. Sophomore Jasmin Delgado (Salpointe Catholic) had no saves.

The Aztecs will host a scrimmage on Monday against Park University at 6 p.m. and then will get back to ACCAC conference play on Saturday when they play at Glendale.
