Damian Lorta, who already has a successful background of baseball in Southern Arizona, will continue his exploits here after he graduates from Desert View in May and heads to Pima Community College.
Lorta was a top contributor to the Sunnyside Little League team that came a game away from the Little League World Series at Williamsport, Pa., in 2019.
He developed into a prospect at first base and third base with the Tucson Champs baseball academy while first attending Walden Grove.
He transferred to Desert View before last season and batted .356 with five doubles and 13 RBIs last season after becoming eligible per AIA transfer rules.
Lorta will join for Sunnyside Little League teammate Andrew Romo at Pima. They were teammates at Walden Grove before both transferred away.
Romo, who has committed to Ken Jacome’s program at Pima, is an outfielder and left-handed pitcher with Cienega as a senior.
