
Pima’s second-ranked team in NJCAA Division II improved to 27-0 after Saturday’s 111-54 rout of South Mountain at the West Aztec Gym.
Pima has the most wins in the nation, slightly ahead of No. 1 North Central Missouri (26-0).
The Aztecs also lead the nation in scoring (104.6 points a game), rebounding margin (plus-27.5), assists (24.4 a game) and assists allowed (7.5 a game).
Pima, 15-0 in the ACCAC Division II standings, had seven players score in double figures in the win over South Mountain.
Marana graduate Wes Ball had a team-high 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and he also had 10 rebounds.
Cohenj Gonzales had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists, Gabe Oldham finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, Mason Hunt had 13 points and seven rebounds and Isaac Johnson contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Pima coach Brian Peabody is now 703-255 in his 32nd year as a head coach.
The Aztecs next play at Glendale (16-8, 8-6) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Glendale is in second place in the ACCAC Division II standings and is on a three-game winning streak. Pima defeated Glendale 91-68 last month at the Aztec West Gym.
