Sours-Miller ACCAC Player & Freshman of Year; Amphi grad Vital & Hoffmeyer earn honors

The Pima Community College women’s basketball team earned regular-season awards from the ACCAC with three players earning recognition, including freshman post player Kiley Sours-Miller selected the ACCAC Division II Player and Freshman of the Year as well as an All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II player.

Sophomore guard Mattanaya Vital, an Amphitheater High School graduate, was an All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II second-team selection. She averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals playing in 26 games with 18 starts in the backcourt. Vital shot 36 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range.

Sours-Miller led the ACCAC Division II Conference averaging 17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and a 61.4 percent field goal percentage.

She also averaged 1.1 steals per game and played in 28 games; making 24 starts.

Sours-Miller also finished the regular season with 14 double-doubles in points and rebounds. She was a seven-time ACCAC Division II Player of the Week.

Sophomore forward Rori Hoffmeyer became a two-time All-ACCAC player as she was named to the first team. She was selected to the second team as a freshman last season. Hoffmeyer was also selected to the All-Region I, Division II second team. She averaged 10.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists after playing in 28 games with 27 starts. She shot 49 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line.

The No. 2 Aztecs (24-5) host No. 3 Scottsdale (17-9) in the Region I, Division II semifinal round Thursday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
