Arizona No. 4 seed in East, to play No. 13 Akron in first round at Seattle

Arizona’s fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance, all under coach Tommy Lloyd, will be as a No. 4 seed in the East Region.

The Wildcats (22-12) will face No. 13 Akron (28-6) on Friday at Seattle. Tip off will be at 4:35 p.m. and it will be televised on TruTV.

Arizona will make its 39th NCAA tournament appearance overall.

Arizona playing Akron has the interesting angle of LeBron James‘ son Bryce committed to Arizona and the NBA legend is from Akron.

The Zips enter the NCAA tournament as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) champion. They are on a seven-game winning streak.

The Wildcats had a tremendous showing in the Big 12 tournament, reaching the championship after beating Kansas and Texas Tech.

A potential second-round matchup in Seattle looms between former Pac-12 rivals Oregon (24-9) and Arizona. The No. 5 Ducks will play No. 12 Liberty (28-6) in a first-round matchup.

If the Wildcats make it to the Sweet 16, they may face No. 1 Duke (31-3) in Newark, N.J.
