No. 10 Arizona already won its series at Arizona State after winning the first two games of the series but came up short 3-2 on Sunday in the finale.

Arizona (29-5, 6-3 Big 12) had six hits and could only bring two runs across against the Sun Devils (23-10, 5-4).

Regan Shockey had two hits and Devyn Netz and Tayler Biehl each drove in a run.

Following 2 1/3 scoreless innings, Arizona took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Sun Devils scored their first two runs with a two-run home run by Ashleigh Mejia and added the third run of the inning with an RBI double by Tiare HoChing.

The Wildcats scored their first run in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Biehl to make it a 3-1 game.

In the top of the seventh, Shockey scored on a fielder’s choice to make it a one-run game.

In the circle, Saya Swain (3-2) made her third start of the season and picked up the loss. Swain went 2 1/3 innings, striking out three without a walk. She gave up the home run to Mejia.

Miranda Stoddard relieved Swain and faced two batters before giving up the third run.

Ryan Maddox entered in the third inning and finished the game, allowing just two hits and no runs in the last 3 2/3 innings.

The Wildcats next head to BYU to continue their two-week road trip. The series against the Cougars will begin Thursday at 4 p.m. The three games at Provo, Utah, will be televised on ESPN+.
