Former Canyon del Oro standout Lucas Casey was named ACCAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year for Pima. Casey tossed five shutout innings and struck out eight batters while allowing just four hits in a win over GateWay.
Former Tucson baseball standout Diego Bejarano was awarded the Cliff Hamlow Champion of Character award for Park University. The award is given to one male and one female student at each GSAC member institution who demonstrate outstanding athletic achievement, campus and community leadership, future ambition, and embraces the five core character values of the NAIA Champions of Character program (Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership).
Former Sunnyside softball standout Lauryn Carbajal was named Athlete of the Week for Western New Mexico and she was named the top hitter in Division II by 6A Analytics.
This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to win either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level.
