Pima sophomore guard Cohenj Gonzales is an NJCAA Division II All-American first-team selection in men’s basketball and freshman center Kiley SoursMiller earned the same honor in women’s hoops.

Gonzales averaged 18.7 points and 4.9 assists per game while leading Brian Peabody’s Aztecs to a 35-1 record and third-place finish in the NJCAA Division II national tournament.

Sours-Miller was a dominating 6-foot-3 presence inside for Todd Holthaus, averaging 18.2 points and 10.7 rebounds a game while shooting 59.9 percent from the field. She was the top player on a team that went all the way to the NJCAA Division II championship before losing to Overland Park (Kan.) Johnson County.

A Peoria Centennial product, Sours-Miller spent her freshman season in the Arizona State program in 2023-24 but did not play and transferred to Pima before the school year started.

Gonzales, of Gilbert Mesquite, excelled to a level belying his 5-foot-9 height. His athleticism made him a dunking highlight-reel machine, and he can shoot from the perimeter (46.4 percent overall, 38.5 percent from 3-point range) and a deft free-throw shooter (84.4 percent).

Pima forward Gabe Oldham was an NJCAA Division II All-American second-team selection.

Oldham, a 6-foot-8 and 235-pound sophomore from Spanish Fork, Utah, averaged 13 points and 9.4 rebounds a game while shooting 63.4 percent from the field.

Gonzalez, Oldham and Max Majerle (Dan Majerle’s son) spearheaded a Pima offense that ranked No. 1 in the nation averaging 99.5 points a game.
