Canyon View beat Tucson Mountain 14-0 Tuesday night at Mehl Park to win the District 5 8-10 Baseball championship. Canyon View will compete in the State Tournament slated to start July 10 in Sierra Vista.

Canyon View (4-0) was led by ace pitcher Jacob Smalley who threw a no-hitter in four innings of work. He gave up two walks in the first inning and batter reached on an infield error in the third inning and that was it. Smalley collected seven strikeouts in the victory. Blake Anthony picked up a triple and an RBI, Roman Castellanos had two RBI, Cade Lee had two RBI and Jackson Smith hit an RBI double.

Anthony Arizmendiz and Jadiel Diaz took the mound for Tucson Mountains (5-2). Tucson Mountain lost to Thornydale 17-12 on June 16 and the team battled back through the Elimination Bracket by winning five games in seven days to make it to the championship game. The team also got some revenge on Thornydale (2-2) with a 14-4 win Monday night. Thornydale took third place and Marana (3-2) took fourth place.

The District 12 8-10 playoffs start Wednesday night at the Purple Heart complex and the District 8 8-10 playoffs will end July 3 in Benson.
