Tucson Turf Elite 12U Chargers reach semifinals; 10U Raiders & 8U Cardinals in quarterfinals

The Tucson Turf Elite 12U Chargers advanced to the semifinals of the NFL FLAG Championships at Canton, Ohio, behind a last-second touchdown pass from Logan Allen to Emeron Bourguet that clinched a 13-12 win over Yorkville (Ill.) Commanders on Saturday.

Allen took the snap with 1 second left eluded a fast-charging defender and unloaded the pass that Bourguet caught in stride along the sideline into the end zone. Emeron is the son of Tucson Turf founder and coach Toby Bourguet and is a member of the famed Bourguet football and flag-football family that includes brothers Trent, Treyson, Coben and Kendren and sister Rylen.

Trenton, Treyson and Coben have a Tucson Turf background before becoming Division I players — Trenton and Coben at Arizona State and Treyson at Western Michigan and BYU. Kendren, another Tucson Turf standout, qualified for the US U17 flag football team and Rylen is a 2028 Olympic hopeful in flag football after playing for the Tucson Turf and competing in US team trials and other national competitions.

The Chargers (5-0 in the tournament) will play the THT Jets of Staten Island (N.Y.) at 8:10 a.m., Tucson time, on Sunday. The championship is scheduled for 10:35 a.m.

The four Tucson Turf Elite teams in the NFL FLAG Championships are a combined 16-2 after the first three days of the competition.

The 12U Girls Broncos lost their second-round game Saturday against the Old Skewl Playmakers Commanders of Hudson Valley, N.Y., to finish 3-1 in the tournament.

The 10U Raiders went 2-0 in the first day of bracket play on Saturday to improve to 4-1. They will play in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 7:35 a.m. against the Spring Hill (Fla.) Elite Gold Buccaneers.

The 8U Cardinals, 4-0, continued to roll with a 7-0 win over the New England Mass Mambas Patriots to advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow at 7 a.m. against the Rebels Chargers of Las Vegas.
