Former Arizona outfielder Brendan Summerhill signed on Saturday with the Tampa Bay Rays, who selected him as the No. 42 pick overall in the MLB Draft last week. His signing bonus is $1.99 million, slightly less than the slot value of where he was picked at $2.33 million. Summerhill was a .323 hitter in the last two seasons, compiling 150 hits in 124 games. He is the first player to sign a contract among the nine Arizona players who were drafted last week. He becomes the 33rd former Arizona player to be an active signee of an MLB club.
