Sunnyside beat Bend North Little League 16-1 in four innings Sunday morning to advance through the Elimination Bracket of the Junior League West Region taking place in Bend, Oregon. The team from Mission Manor Park will have to win three more games to get to the championship game set for Thursday, July 31.
Emilio Medina (1.1), Adrian Shinn (1.2) and Ozzie Guadarrama (1.0) took the mound for Sunnyside and the trio combined for eight strikeouts. Medina picked up the victory. Medina also went 2 for 2 at the plate with an RBI and Guadarrama, Rodolfo Carbajal and Angel Salazar collected doubles.
Sunnyside (3-1) will play Dixie Little League (2-1) of St. George, Utah Monday morning at 10 a.m.
