The Post 7 Tucson Moondogs lost to California 6-1 Friday night at the American Legion West Regional taking place in Fairfield, California. The team from Petaluma (4-0) will face Texas (3-1) in the championship round schedule for Sunday at 1 p.m. Texas has to beat California twice to advance to the American Legion World Series slated to start on August 14 in Shelby, North Carolina.
Tucson went 10-3 in the regular season, 4-1 in the state playoffs and 2-2 at the West Region. This is the 100th year of American Legion Baseball and Post 7 (Morgan McDermott) has 46 state championships to its name dating back to 1934. Post 7 advanced to the World Series four times: 1944, 1945, 1968 and 2007.
The Moondogs are comprised of players from Tucson High and the team is representing the state of Arizona at the region.
