Baja Arizona Notes: Alyssa Brown signs with TK Hannover Luchse; Lauren Rumel wins Gold with Team USA; Vinnie Tarantola to coach the Rockingham Rams Baseball Club

Former Sahuaro standout Alyssa Brown signed with TK Hannover Luchse, a professional women’s basketball team based in Hanover, Germany. Luchse competes in the highest German basketball league, the DBBL. Luchse won the DBBL Cup in 2023 and 2024 seasons and have made the playoffs eight straight years.

Brown was the 2020 Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, she finished her high school career with 2,680 points and only former Catalina Foothills and current Arizona assistant coach Julie Brase scored more (2,913). Brown went on to earn Mountain West accolades while playing at UNLV.

Former Catalina Foothills volleyball standout Lauren Rumel helped USA Volleyball’s U23 Team win the 2025 NORCECA Women’s Pan American Cup in Leon, Mexico. Team USA swept Canada 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) in the championship match.

July 28: USA def. Suriname, 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-7)
July 29: USA def. Costa Rica, 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-10)

July 31: Semifinals: USA def. Mexico, 3-2 (20-25, 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10)
Aug. 1: Gold Medal Match: USA def. Canada, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19)

Rumel started out at Arizona before moving over to Oregon State for her sophomore season in 2023.

Former Sahuaro (2014), Pima (2015), South Mountain (2016), Liberty (20178) standout Vinnie Tarantola will be the head coach of the Rockingham Rams Baseball Club located in Australia. After Liberty, Tarantola played in the Mexican leagues before moving over to Australia where he pitched for Perth and the Rockingham Rams.
