The Pima Community College men’s soccer team continued its dominant run on Tuesday, earning its ninth straight victory with a 9-1 win over Chandler-Gilbert Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field.
Ranked No. 4 nationally, the Aztecs (11-1, 8-1 ACCAC) matched their season-high with nine goals seven of them in the first half as they overwhelmed the Coyotes (0-8-1, 0-8-1) with precise passing and relentless offense.
Freshman Sean Ribadeneira led the charge with a first-half hat trick, scoring in the 25th, 26th, and 40th minutes to help Pima take full control. Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe graduate) contributed three assists, two on Ribadeneira’s goals and another on Joost Hermeling’s 37th-minute strike.
The Aztecs showcased their depth with seven different goal scorers. Sophomores Nathan Flores, Jihoon Song, Donovan Rodriguez, Lae Soe, and freshman Wei Wei Mannos each found the back of the net to cap the dominant win.
Pima finished with 13 shots on goal while holding Chandler-Gilbert to just one. Goalkeepers Alex Cristerna Oleta and Gustavo Duran shared time in net, facing minimal action.
The Aztecs now hit the road for their next three matches, beginning Friday against GateWay in Phoenix. The game will be played at South Mountain with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
