There they grow again – the Arizona football team, that is.
The signs are indelible.
In fact, has Arizona looked any better in the Brent Brennan era? Name a game and your search likely won’t find a game like Arizona had on Saturday morning into the afternoon. Afterall, Arizona knocked off a top 25 team.
In fact, Arizona looked the part of a confident team that could possibly make a nice run to the end after beating No. 22 Cincinnati, 30-24, on the road. It has won three straight games.

They played so well, you wonder where this team has been all season? Does it matter anymore, save for a play or two against Brigham Young and Houston?
Still, Arizona is now 7-3 overall and, after Saturday, is looking good. (Yes, it was a little surprising writing that). Last week, Brennan said six wins wasn’t enough for him. Saturday, he said: “seven (wins) ain’t enough for me.”
“We talk about this all the time,” Brennan said on his postgame radio show. “We want to build the best team in the Big 12. We have to be connected, we have to work hard for each other, and we have to lean into the process.”
Again, he brought up his Redline motto: effort, execution and accountability. Arizona had all that in in bunches. And looked good doing it.
Arizona outgained Cincinnati 475 yards to 344, rushing for 181 yards.
The run game was strong. Kedrick Reescano had 94 yards, including a 50-yard TD run. And Kris Hutson had eight catches for 123 yards. So many contributed.
Arizona jumped out early, taking advantage of an early interception to score in the game’s opening minute. Sure, Cincinnati scored on its next possession and later took the lead. But Cincinnati couldn’t get any traction offensively and, in fact, probably should have been down most of the game had Arizona been able to hit two first-half field goals.
But, it didn’t wilt. Didn’t give up. Instead, it was the aggressor all morning and afternoon on a day where quarterback Noah Fifita became the school’s all-time touchdown thrower. He now has 68 – and counting. He used nine receivers, and they all were productive.
And Arizona ran the ball – hasn’t that been the complaint the last few games? – with much success.

Through 10 games now – seeing is believing.
“It’s a real special moment for us,” Brennan said.
No one had a better day than Fifita, who in addition to having that record to himself, threw for 294 yards hitting 23 of 31 passes. The offensive looked fluid. How many times has that happened this season? Saturday, it looked like it had been every-game good.
“I think he was a young player in years past, but now he’s an older player, and he’s a mature player, and he’s so he’s so competitive,” Brennan said of Fifita when asked about his leadership, “and he’s just such a great person for this football program. He’s a loyal guy. He’s got it keeps coming back. Everybody keeps trying to lure him away from here, but he keeps choosing Arizona; he keeps choosing our football program and I love him for it because he’s awesome.”
He was, as was Arizona on Saturday.
