
The Pima Community College women’s basketball team won its home opener 109-40 on Wednesday over Yavapai at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 7 Aztecs (4-2) won their second meeting with the Roughriders this season. They won 99-55 on Nov. 4 in Prescott.
Pima led 9-6 and went on a 22-0 run in the first quarter. The Aztecs led 31-8 entering the second quarter.
Up 36-11, the Aztecs used a 16-0 run to build more of a cushion to make it 52-11. They outscored the Roughriders 25-4 for the quarter and led 56-12 at halftime.
Pima then outscored the Roughriders by double digits in the third and fourth quarters.
Pima had five players score in double figures as freshman Lucy Fisher led the way with 16 points and provided a double-double with 12 rebounds. She went 8 for 14 from the field.
Sophomore Ahdiayh Chee went 5 for 9 from the field and 4 for 7 from 3-point range as she posted 14 points to go with two rebounds and two assists.
Freshman Nevaeh Urenda (Flowing Wells) had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists while sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller finished with 12 points on 6-for 8-shooting.
Freshman Reigne Waugh contributed with 12 points and five rebounds and freshman Jolee Nelson (Salpointe) secured a team-high 14 rebounds (10 offensive) to go with five points and three steals.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Friday when they host El Cajon (Calif.) Cuyamaca at 2 p.m.
