What a first month of college basketball it has been.
If you are an Arizona men’s basketball fan you’ve witnessed it and cheered.
Ditto at Michigan State, a team that disposed Henri Veesaar’s North Carolina team to stay undefeated.

Then there’s Duke, but isn’t there always Duke that shines in the early part of the season as well as the end?
And, what about Michigan, a team that took apart three very – no, make that very – good teams last week, including Gonzaga.
Matching it – maybe – is Arizona’s run so far, reaching 7-0 through the first month.
There are others of course.
So many good teams with lots of hoops to happen still.

“There’s a lot of really good teams out there,” said UA’s Tommy Lloyd when I asked him about the teams so far. “And obviously, we’ve had maybe some attention-grabbing moments that people have maybe anointed us, maybe a little bit too early … (But) other teams had some attention-grabbing moments, and maybe they got anointed.
“At the end of the day, to be honest with you, none of us know what things look like in 30 days or 60 days or 90 days, so you got to stay the course. There’s nothing wrong with being excited and optimistic about where you’re at, but I just know this: false hope and optimism don’t get a lot of results.”
Exactly.
