Offensive lineman Will Way, Class of 2023 Pusch Ridge graduate, transferred from FCS school Weber State to Power 4 program Wake Forest of the ACC on Wednesday.

Way, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound center, has two years of eligibility remaining after spending three years at Weber State.

Terms of the signing are not public. His father Andrew Way mentioned it was “an incredible offer.”

“I have an incredible opportunity in front of me at the highest level of college football,” Will Way mentioned in a text message. “They have a need at center that needs to be filled and I’m going to do everything I can to fill that need.

“Coach (Jake) Dickert and (offensive line) coach (Jared) Kaster are incredible people. I will always be grateful for Weber State and the time that I had there. I found a great spot and I’ll be surrounded by great people. I’m so fired up to be a Deac!”

Dickert and Kaster have a background recruiting Way at Washington State while Way was at Pusch Ridge.

He redshirted in 2023, played in four games in 2024, and participated in 10 this year despite suffering a torn hamstring in early July.

Way rehabilitated his way back to make the trip to James Madison in Weber State’s opener and he was able to take the field in his hometown when Arizona hosted Weber State on Sept. 6.

Playing at the interior of the line rather than tackle has been benefical for Way due to his size. He was a tackle at Pusch Ridge for Kent Middleton. Way was also a defensive end with agility and toughness coming off the edge. He tallied 27.5 tackles for loss in his career with the Lions, including 21.5 his last two seasons.

Wake Forest, which finished 9-4 this season, is addressing a need at offensive line with the signing of Way and New Hampshire tackle Tolu Olajide this week.

Way is a communications major with an emphasis on interpersonal, strategic communications. He plans to attend law school. His mother is an attorney. He wants to be a sports agent.
