No. 12 Pima wins fourth straight game with blowout win over South Mountain

The Pima Community College women’s basketball team earned its fourth straight win as it cruised on Saturday over South Mountain at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 12 Aztecs (16-4, 8-2 in ACCAC) opened the first quarter on a 22-2 run and went on to win 109-27.

The Cougars (3-13, 0-10) didn’t score their first points of the game until 53 seconds left the first quarter.

The Aztecs went on an 18-0 run in the second quarter to go up 46-6 as they took a 49-9 lead at halftime.

They went on to outscore the Cougars 61-18 in the second half.

Sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller posted her seventh double-double of the season finishing with a game-high 30 points on 14-for-19 shooting to go with 13 rebounds and four steals.

Sophomore reserve Lucy Land scored 18 points on 9-for-10 shooting. She also had four rebounds and two steals.

Freshman Reigne Waugh flirted with a triple-double as she posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. She was 3 for 6 from the field and 5 for 6 from the free-throw line.

Freshman Nevaeh Urenda (Flowing Wells) contributed with 10 points, nine assists, seven steals and four rebounds off the bench.

Freshman Kahlia Gonzales added nine points, eight assists and three steals while sophomore Cassie Coolidge (Sahuaro) made all four of her shots from the field, including one from 3-point range, for nine points.

The Aztecs will hit the road for the next two games. They play at Glendale on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
