
Timothy Mack Brown
April 15, 1949 – January 26, 2026
His career goal was to make each and every individual who stepped foot in his classroom and on the mat, a more productive citizen.
Timothy Mack Brown, 76, of Tucson, passed away peacefully on January 26. Tim was born on April 15, 1949 to William and Lucinda Brown in Washington, PA. His family moved to Tucson when he was 5 years old where he later graduated from Amphitheater in 1967. Tim received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1971, completed his master’s degree in education in 1976 and his Educational Administration Degree in 1986 all from the University of Arizona.
Tim was an American Government and Economics teacher in Douglas from 1972-2003. He was also involved in several aspects of coaching during and after his teaching career. Tim was instrumental in starting the wrestling program at Douglas High School and was the head wrestling coach from 1980-2003. He and his wife Doris, moved to Tucson in the fall of 2003. He then began coaching wrestling at Salpointe from 2005-2010. Tim was the State Record Chairman of the Arizona Wrestling Coaches Association from 1986-2020. He was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame, Arizona Chapter in 2009. In 2015, the Douglas Wrestling Invitational was renamed The Tim Brown Douglas Invitational, in honor of Tim’s 31 years of service and dedication to the sport of Wrestling in Douglas.
Besides teaching and coaching, Tim enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends and family as well as the occasional movie outing with his grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, cousin, coach, teacher and friend.
In addition to his wife Doris of 50 years, he is survived by his children Jason (Erika), Jennifer (Jeff) Wilson, and Jeffrey; his three grandchildren, Makayla, Kyle and Reagan; and his sister, Lettie Anderson and family.
Tim is now resting comfortably on a wrestling mat in heaven with friends and family. A scholarship fund in Tim’s name will be established. Details to follow.
As per his wishes, he was cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
