
The No. 11 Pima Community College women’s basketball team won its seventh straight game on Saturday with a 56-51 victory over No. 16 Scottsdale in a matchup between two NJCAA Division II nationally-ranked programs.
The Aztecs (19-4, 11-2 in ACCAC) defeated the host Artichokes (15-7, 9-4) after rallying in the fourth quarter. Pima has won 10 of its last 11 games.
The Aztecs took a 33-27 lead at halftime, but the Artichokes outscored the Aztecs 15-8 in the third quarter.
Pima trailed 42-41 entering the fourth quarter. The Aztecs countered by outscoring the Artichokes 15-9 to end the game.
Sophomore Melicia Nelson closed out the game with a double-double and a team-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. She also added five assists and three steals.
Sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller finished the game with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
Freshman Reigne Waugh had 12 points and four rebounds.
Freshman Lucy Fisher contributed with eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Aztecs hit the road on Wednesday when they play Phoenix College in an ACCAC game. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
