
Pending governing board action, legendary football coach Pat Nugent was appointed to be the new Athletic Director for Tanque Verde High School the program reported on social media.
Nugent retired in December of 2024 after 34 years of coaching at various levels, including a state championship with Mica Mountain.
Nugent mentioned in a text message Thursday night that being the athletic director at Tanque Verde will be a “great opportunity and new challenge for myself.”
“The ability to join a respected school district and a growing athletic department is exciting,” Nugent added.
Gary Lewis, an assistant principal and current athletic director, is leaving the school after this school year.
Tanque Verde football coach Jeff Bollnow served as a defensive assistant coach under Nugent when Nugent coached at Cienega before taking the Mica Mountain job.
