
The Pima Community College women’s basketball team won its 11th straight game, an 87-49 victory over Glendale, on Sophomore Day on Saturday behind sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller’s double-double of a season-high 33 points with 15 rebounds.
The No. 10 Aztecs (23-4, 15-2 in ACCAC) defeated the Gauchos (8-17, 3-13) in all three matchups against the Gauchos during the regular season.
Pima will host rival Mesa on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to close the regular season.
The Aztecs hold a 1.5-game lead over the Thunderbirds for the No. 1 seed of the Region I, Division II Tournament.
The Aztecs trailed 26-23 with 3:44 left in the second quarter but went on an 18-0 run that carried almost four minutes into the third quarter to take a 41-26 lead. The Aztecs led 58-36 entering the fourth quarter after outscoring Glendale 25-10 in the third quarter.
Pima used a 13-1 run in the fourth quarter to help close the game as it surrendered just 23 points in the second half and outscored the Gauchos 29-13 to close out the game.
Nine of Sours-Miller’s rebounds were on the offensive end. She went 16 for 26 from the field, adding four blocks and two assists.
Sophomore Lucy Land finished with eight points and eight rebounds as she shot 4 for 6 from the field. Freshman Reigne Waugh also scored eight points, to go with four rebounds and two assists.
Sophomores Cassie Coolidge (Sahuaro) and Ahdiayh Chee each scored seven points off the bench.
Sophomore Melicia Nelson contributed with six points, three rebounds and 11 assists while freshman Lucy Fisher posted six points and nine rebounds.
