
The Pima Community College softball team improved to 16-1 overall, 11-1 in the ACCAC after sweeping Chandler-Gilbert in a doubleheader at West Campus Aztec Softball Field on Saturday.
The No. 6 Aztecs picked up their fifth ACCAC doubleheader sweep of the season.
Sophomore Jiselle Nunez (Tucson) finished the day 2 for 2 with an RBI and four walks. Sophomore pitchers Belen Camacho (Pueblo) and Saraiah Ferrentino (Sabino) kept Chandler-Gilbert (6-9, 4-6) in check combining to give up no runs on nine hits with 13 strikeouts.

The Aztecs took the lead early as Camacho pitched a complete-game shutout, going six innings, giving up two hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk on 75 pitches.
Sophomore Julissa Lopez (Tucson) put Pima on the board with a two-run double to score freshman Alyssa Aguirre (Sabino) and sophomore Clarissa Figueroa (Mountain View).
Up 3-0, the Aztecs scored three more runs in the fifth inning. Freshman Angelina Dehler (Empire) hit an RBI double to bring in pinch-runner Emylie Alkire (Empire). Freshman Isabel Mendoza (Cienega) followed with a two-run single to score freshman Aaliyah Pereda (Mountain View) and Dehler to make it 6-0.
Pereda knocked in two runs in the sixth inning with an RBI single driving in freshman Mia Lopez-Vasquez (Sunnyside) and Figueroa.
Mendoza finished the game 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Lopez was 2 for 4 with two RBIs while Pereda had a two-run single. Figueroa went 2 for 4 with two runs and Dehler finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run.

The Aztecs scored one run in the first inning and one in the sixth inning as Ferrentino did the rest from the circle. She pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks on 100 pitches.
Nunez hit an RBI single in the first inning to score Aguirre.
Freshman Isabel Rodriguez (Walden Grove) made it 2-0 with her RBI single to score pinch-runner Tayah Lyons in the sixth.
The Coyotes stranded runners at the corners in the seventh inning as Ferrentino got the strikeout to end the game.
The Aztecs hit the road for the next six games. They will play a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Eastern Arizona. The first game will start at 12:00 p.m.
