Pusch Ridge over St. Augustine, 17-0
The Pusch Ridge Lions earned their third win in a row after the program beat St. Augustine 17-0 Wednesday night. Ranked No. 23 in the 3A Conference, the Lions are on the edge of qualifying for the Conference Play-In Tournament slated for April 29. Teams ranked No. 9 to No. 24 will make up the field of that tournament and the eight winners will advance to the state tournament scheduled to start May 5.
St. Augustine is ranked No. 22 in the 2A Conference and the Wolves are under the same postseason scenario as Pusch Ridge but things won’t get any easier with 3A No. 15 Empire visiting on April 13, followed by a trip to 2A No. 3 Benson on April 16. Pusch Ridge will host 1A No. 6 on April 10.
In the game Wednesday night, MJ Buckner went 3-3 with an RBI, Ethan Burnside went 2-3 with an RBI, Troy Massey went 2-3 with an RBI and a double, Levi Jones picked up three RBI, Lincoln Miller had two RBI and a triple and four RBI to lead the Lions. Burnside picked up the win with five strikeouts. Owen Ernle, Sergio Cordova and Edgardo Cornejo saw pitching action for the Wolves.
