Treydan Stukes, a versatile defensive back who went from walk-on to star at Arizona, was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with 38th overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft.
The Raiders acquired the pick by trading with the Houston Texans, giving up picks 36 and 117 to move to 38 and 91.
Stukes is the highest-drafted Arizona defensive back since 2008, when Antoine Cason was picked in the first round as the 27th selection overall by what was then the San Diego Chargers.
Stukes is known for his journey from a walk-on out of Goodyear Millennium High School in 2020, a season affected by COVID-19 in the midst of the turbulent Kevin Sumlin era, to a two-time team captain and First-Team All-Big 12 selection.

He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. When his career at Arizona started in 2020, he was 6-foot and 160 pounds.
He showed plenty of promise in his senior season at Millennium in 2019, tallying seven interceptions and deflecting 15 passes.
Over six seasons at Arizona, he played 52 games, transitioning from an outside cornerback to a nickel corner and safety.
He bounced back from a torn ACL in 2024 to earn AP Third-Team All-American honors last fall.
Recognized as a ball hawker, he recorded seven career interceptions and 28 pass breakups.
His acrobatic highlight-reel interception in Arizona’s victory at Arizona State in November exemplified his NFL-worthy skills.

At the NFL Combine, he posted a 4.33-second 40-yard dash and a 38-inch vertical jump.
Raiders management, including GM John Spytek, reportedly views Stukes as a versatile secondary piece who can contribute immediately, particularly in nickel packages. He is expected to compete for a starting role in a secondary that includes veterans like Eric Stokes and young talent like Darien Porter.
