No other player in the history of boys volleyball in the state has more than the 3,016 assists Cienega senior Caiden Mott has produced in his stellar career.

Cienega is 32-4 and one of the top 5A teams in the state because of Mott’s veteran leadership.

The 5A postseason begins Tuesday with play-in matches. The Bobcats’ first round match will be on Friday at home at 6 p.m. against an opponent to be determined from the play-in round.

Mott is at 642 assists after posting 665 as a freshman, 996 as a sophomore and 713 as a junior.

He also has 537 digs and 344 kills in his four-year varsity career.

In the month of April, in which Cienega was 10-0 in matches and 30-0 in sets, Mott is an integral part as a captain. His effort and performance merit him the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month.

He has signed with Benedictine University in Mesa. He will continue his college education after serving a two-year mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
