— Former Arizona catcher Austin Wells was activated from the injured list after missing two weeks because of cervical headaches. Wells missed 12 games and had three minor league rehab games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. He went 2 for 12 in those game but also spent time working on some things with coaches. Wells is hitting .166 with four homers and seven RBI in 47 games in his third full season as New York’s starting catcher and said he was feeling pressure at the top of his head and headaches. Before going on the injured list June 7, Wells was hitless in his last 13 at-bats and 1 for his last 18.

— Former Arizona outfielder Jared Oliva appeared on track to be a part of the San Francisco Giants’ roster coming out of spring training but a hamate fracture in mid-April resulted in surgery that derailed Oliva’s hopes with the Giants. He was designated for assignment this week and the New York Mets claimed him off waivers Tuesday. He adds outfield depth at Triple-A Syracuse. The 30-year-old hit .143 (1-for-7) with one steal in seven games with the Giants before undergoing surgery to repair the hamate fracture.

— Former Arizona right-hander Anthony Susac was promoted to Double-A Frisco (Texas) by the Texas Rangers this week from Single-A+ Hub City at Spartanburg, S.C. In his first appearance with Frisco on Tuesday, Susac pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief with one strikeout and no walks.
