Salpointe senior Samantha Saxon beat the field by three stroke to win the Girls 15-18 Division of the Phoenix City Junior Championships held at the Aguila Golf Course on Thursday and Friday. Tucson youth golfer Jackson Jones won the Boys 13-14 Division by one stroke and Catalina Foothills Senior Zachary Schaefer took second place in the Boys Championship Division.

FORMER SABINO STANDOUT ABBY GRYZYNGER SCORES HOLE-IN-ONE
Former Sabino standout Abigail Gryzynger scored a hole-in-one on the 13th hole of the LPGA/USGA Girls Golf National Championship held at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina (July 7). She finished the tournament with a 6-over-par 150 (72-78).
TRIO OF LOCAL GOLFERS MISS THE CUT FOR THE U.S. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Former Catalina Foothills standout Chase Cesarek shot a 2-over 74 at the U. S. Amateur Final Qualifier held at the Moon Valley Golf Club in Phoenix on July 16 to miss the cut by six strokes. Former Ironwood Ridge standout Brasen Briones missed the cut by seven strokes.
Former Catalina Foothill standout Finn Meister missed the cut by six strokes at the Colorado qualifier on July 22.
The 126th U.S. Amateur Championship will be held in Pennsylvania from August 10-16.
