First Tee – Tucson standout Preston Flores is one of 80 junior athletes selected to play in the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee taking place on both the Pebble Beach Golf Links and the Spyglass Hill Golf Course starting on Friday, Sept 18. Following Saturday’s rounds, the top 24 juniors will advance to Sunday’s final round at Pebble Beach, where one male and one female First Tee participant will be crowned champions.

Flores is a junior at Salpointe and he is three qualifying rounds away from being ranked as an individual. As a team, the Lancers are ranked No. 8 in Division II and the program leads the Sonoran Region with one more qualifying round needed for post season play.

“With Preston selected to participate in The PURE Insurance Championship, it shines a national spotlight on our Tucson chapter, giving him a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with PGA TOUR Champions pros and business leaders,” First Tee – Tucson Executive Director Judy McDermott said in a release. “It validates their character development, hard work, and ambition, and shows them that through First Tee, they truly belong on the biggest stages.”

Perry junior Taylor Underhill (D-I No. 4), Millenium sophomore Nolan Wilson (D-I No. 7) and American Leadership Academy -Gilbert North senior Jack Garner (D-II No. 17) are also in the field.
