Pueblo beat Walden Grove 2-0 to win the championship of the Nymeyer Invitational hosted by Flowing Wells. The Warriors went 5-1 as did the Red Wolves.
Walden Grove beat Pueblo 3-0 to start the regular season and that is the only loss for the Warriors in ranking matches, where the team sits on an 8-1 record and 4-0 in the 5A Southern Region. Walden Grove (6-3) is 2-2 in the 4A Kino Region.
Pueblo senior setter Anette Urquijo finished with 18 assists in the championship final, Brooklyn Rosthenhausler-Espinoza had 10 kills and Isabella Carrillo had nine kills. Rosthenhausler-Espinoza added four blocks and Urquijo had five aces.
Ava Hurt had seven assists for Walden Grove and Gileany Lopez Rodriguez had six kills.
Rio Rico won the Silver Bracket over Casa Grande and the Hawks will host Walden Grove in region play Monday night and Pueblo travels to Desert View on Wednesday.
