AHL player of the week Hebig leads surging Roadrunners in their return home

The Tucson Roadrunners look to continue their hot streak in their first home series since mid October.

The Roadrunners (7-2-2-0) return home after a successful five-game road trip to host the Coachella Valley Firebirds (4-4-2-1) on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Firebirds are the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken.

Tucson comes into the series riding a four-game win streak and a run of nine games of getting at least a point. As of Thursday afternoon, the Roadrunners are in first place in the Pacific Division with 16 points from 11 games.

The Roadrunners were tied for third in the 32-team league and their 13 away points were the most in the league.

The Hartford Wolf Pack had the second-most away points 11, from 10 road games. Tucson’s 13 road points are from seven games.

The Roadrunners have gone 7-0-2-0 since Oct. 9 and were featured in an article on the league’s website.

PROMOTIONS

El Lazo makes their season debut in time for Día de Muertos on Friday night.

Saturday is EDM/Dusk Night, with special guest DJ Walters The Don.

El Lazo is the Roadrunners’ more localized identity. El Lazo logo has a Roadrunner head shaped sugar skull, referencing Dia de Los Muertos and the All Souls Procession. The skull is in front of an Arizona flag with the word “Lazo” in a western font and a cowboy hat to allude to the Tucson Rodeo.

El Lazo is Spanish for lasso or lariat and alludes to the traditional City of Tucson logo that featured a lasso around the modern city and historical sites.
