Former Arizona forward Ryan Luther drove the lane and converted the winning shot for Herd That in their 102-99 win over The Money Team, which included former Wildcat standout Nick Johnson, in The Basketball Tournament today.
Luther and Herd That rallied from down 97-88 in the Elam ending of The Basketball Tournament to pull off the upset. The Money Team was seeded No. 7 and Herd That No. 23.
Luther, playing on a team comprised of mostly Marshall alums, finished with nine points and six rebounds in 17 minutes. His basket put Herd That over the 101 points needed to win in the Elam ending, which The Basketball Tournament is using after four minutes have been played in the fourth quarter to prevent fouls from stopping the clock. A target winning score is determined at the 4-minute mark.

Johnson, an All-American in 2014 when he was selected the Pac-12 Player of the Year played 19 minutes off the bench and did not score but had six assists.
Herd That advances to the quarterfinals Saturday at 11 a.m. in the tournament played at Nationwide Arena at Columbus, Ohio.
The team will play the winner of the Overseas Elite-Armored Athlete game played today at 1 p.m. Tucson time.
Johnson played professionally last season in Turkey. He made headlines earlier this year when he ran an impromptu marathon to honor a fallen Navy Seal.
After playing a year in the Latvia-Estonia pro league, Luther will play in Turkey next season with Darussafaka. Luther’s winning share if Herd That wins The Basketball Tournament is $100,000
