Class of 2022 quarterback Treyson Bourguet prospect, who holds a scholarship offer from Arizona and Vanderbilt, will remain at Salpointe Catholic High School after entertaining the thought of transferring to Pleasant Grove (Utah) High School in order to guarantee playing this season.
His father, Toby Bourguet, confirmed the decision after his son was prematurely added to Pleasant Grove’s roster on Thursday by MaxPreps. Schools submit rosters to the national high school athletics Web site.
Uncertainty of a season existed in Arizona before the AIA announced Wednesday that a football season will remain in the fall with the first practice scheduled for Sept. 7. The games are slated to begin Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. The championships are to be played Dec. 11 and 12 for Class 4A to 6A and the Open Division.
Bourguet’s decision to remain with the Lancers stems from the likelihood he would not be able to return to Arizona for his senior season because of the AIA’s double-transfer ineligibility rule. Bourguet already transferred from Marana to Salpointe before last season. If he transferred to a Utah school, he would have used his availability of two transfers.
Bourguet helped lead Salpointe to a third-place finish in Arizona’s Open Division playoffs last year after throwing for 805 yards with 13 touchdowns in seven games, including 243 yards against Pinnacle and 232 against Chandler in state tournament games.
“Everybody has to make tough decisions in the best interest of their family,” Toby Bourguet told AllSportsTucson.com earlier this week. “It’s not that we want to explore the options. (The year) 2020 is a little bit different world.”

The Utah season is slated to start next Thursday.
Bourguet threw for 453 yards as freshman at Marana in 2018.
