Jeff Cotton will begin his NFL career on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad.
The former Mountain View and Pima College standout receiver was cut by the Chargers on Saturday. The team announced its practice squad today and Cotton is one of 15 listed.
Cotton, 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, completed his college career at Idaho after graduating from Mountain View and Pima. He played in 21 games for the Vandals, catching 137 passes for 1,797 yards (13.1 avg.) with 14 touchdowns.
He was named NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American, first-team All-WSFL and first-team All-Region in 2016 for the Aztecs. He played all nine games with 43 receptions, 837 yards and six touchdowns.
At Mountain View, Cotton was a first-team All-Southern Arizona selection after putting together a senior season (2014) with 851 yards receiving (18.1 yards per catch) and five touchdowns.
Cotton prepared for his fall camp with the Chargers by training during the summer in Tucson, including at JET Sports Training.
