Yaxel Ledezma went 3-3 with a home run to help push the Pacesetters past the Marucci Athletics 10-2 in pool play on Saturday. Jackson Potter went 2-4 and Evan Wheeler went 2-3. Cooper Cliff had two RBI and Lincoln Miller, Fabian Acuna and Robbie Garcia added RBIs. Acuna and Potter combined for four strikeouts in the win.
Acuna went 2-2 with a double and home run against AnthemBlue while Cliff, Colton Kintner and Wheeler added doubles in the 12-4 victory. Kintner, Cliff and Wheeler had two RBI and Garcia added another. Miguel Lopez and Alec Olivas had hits and Miller picked up the win from the mound.
Ledesma and Cliff went 2-2 with doubles and Acuna and Wheeler added doubles in the 6-2 win over the Scottsdale Rattlers in bracket play. Tristan Loftis, Garcia, Carter Cliff and Wheeler added RBIs. Ledesma had six strikeouts, Potter picked up three and Wheeler had two more.
The Pacesetters batted back from an early 5-0 deficit to beat the Casa Grande Royals 12-9 to set up the championship game. Down 5-0, the Pacesetters responded with three runs in the bottom of the first but the Royals went back up 7-3 only to have Ledesma hit a 3-run shot to help the team tie things up 7-7 after two. The Royals went back up 9-7 in the third but Olivas hit a 2-out single to tie the game back up 9-9 and then Miller followed with two more RBI to put the Pacesetters up for good 11-9 and the team added another run in the fourth. Ledesma had four RBI, Miller had three and Olivas had two. Ledesma also picked up six strikeouts and Acuna and Wheeler also saw pitching action.
Wheeler went 3-3 with a home run, double and three RBI in the final against the Golden Spikes and Ledesma went 2-2 with a home run and two RBI in the 12-3 victory. Potter added two RBI and Acuna had another. Acuna and Loftis took the mound.
